Routo is a software-as-a-service that charges a monthly subscription fee based on the number of driver slots you purchase.

New accounts always start with the Free Plan with 1 free driver slot. If you decide to have more driver slots, you can purchase more driver slots by upgrading to the Standard Plan - more details on the pricing page.

Moving from Free Plan to Standard Plan

Upgrading your plan from Free Plan to Standard Plan always incurs an immediate charge to your credit card. Here's an example:

  1. You decide to upgrade to Standard Plan to purchase more driver slots on 1st January.
  2. Your credit card will be charged for the number of driver slots you purchase on 1st January.
  3. You will be charged every 30 days at the same rate assuming you make no further changes to your subscription after 1st January.

Changing driver slots in between billing cycles

Changing the number of driver slots you want to have for a short period of time is a common practice especially if your business expects temporary increase in deliveries. Routo supports this by allowing you to change the number of slots at any point in time. An example:

  1. You are currently on the Standard Plan with 5 driver slots (1 free + 4 paid) which started on 1st February - USD29 x 4 slots = USD116
  2. You wish to buy 15 more slots to meet surge in demand - USD29 x 15 slots = USD435
  3. You make the purchase on 10th February.
  4. Since you have already been billed for the 4 paid slots on 1st February, these additional 15 slots will be billed from your next billing cycle onwards. This means that your base subscription from March onwards will be USD435 per month assuming you don't change the number of drivers.
  5. However, you will also be charged for the 18 remaining days in February where you had the 15 additional slots. This amount is prorated for the amount of time you spent "using" those slots.
  6. Finally, your expected bill in March will be the base amount for March (USD29 x (4 + 15) slots = USD551) plus the prorated amount in February (USD29 x 15 slots x 18 remaining days / 28 total days in February = ~USD280)
  7. Since you only wish to buy the 15 slots to meet a temporary surge, you remove them after 3 days. You will finally only be billed for the 3 days of use in your March bill. Your total expected bill in March will be USD29 * 4 slots (base) plus the 15 slots usage for 3 days in February.

Cancelling your Standard Plan

Cancelling your Standard Plan will downgrade your account to Free Plan immediately. Payments made prior to this will not be refundable, if you wish to purchase more driver slots by upgrading again, you will need to make another payment.

This is important to note and will be illustrated by an example below:

  1. You decide to upgrade to Standard Plan to purchase more driver slots on 1st January.
  2. Your credit card will be charged for the number of driver slots you purchase on 1st January.
  3. Your credit card will expect to be billed 30 days later at the same rate.
  4. One week later on 8th January, you decide to remove all your driver slots (except the free one) which is equivalent to cancelling your Standard Plan subscription.
  5. You will not be refunded for the unused time (3 weeks) on the purchased slots.
  6. If you purchase more slots on 9th January again, you are upgrading your Free Plan to Standard Plan and as such will start a new billing cycle from 9th January upon making full payment for the slots.

You can follow the steps described here to cancel your plan.
